- We focus on the Roasting and Packaging
of the finest quality Arabica Coffee Beans. If you are not 100%
satisfied with any of our products, please return them for a full refund
or exchange.
- We use only the highest quality Arabica
Coffee Beans for all of our varietal and blended Coffees including
Chemical Free Water Process Decaf. Robusta
and other lesser coffee beans are not used.......Life's too short!
- Each Coffee Bean is roasted
on a cushion of heated air to the exact degree required to develop
its peak flavour. Blending is performed to satisfy general resale
and individual customer requirements.
- The Coffee is then packaged for immediate
delivery directly to our retail and wholesale customers and our retail
stores.
- All of our Coffee is protected by the
highest quality packaging available.
Each bag incorporates a valve which allows the carbon dioxide to escape
without bursting the bag. Furthermore, the valve prevents the
entry of coffee's enemies.......oxygen, moisture & airborne yeast
organisms, etc.
- Coffee orders of 3 Kg or more are delivered
in the Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast areas within 24 hours of roasting.
Coffee deliveries to greater Australia are sent by Express Post or other
fast carrier. Larger quantities of bags can be custom labeled
for resale, special functions, etc.
We start with
premium quality ARABICA Coffee Beans:
Arabica Coffee has superior Flavour,
Body and Acidity to all other species of coffee.
The highest grown slow ripening coffee
is selected for roasting.
Our Arabica Coffee comes from diverse
countries:
Colombia Costa
Rica Guatemala Kenya
Ethiopia
Sumatra Papua New Guinea
and others
The diverse growing conditions produce coffees
with differing flavour, body and acidity. We roast each coffee to
the temperature required to develop the best taste characteristics.
Maximum flavour and moderate caffeine.....ARABICA
Coffee is the most flavourful and aromatic of the three species of the
coffee genus; the other two being Canephora (Robusta) and Liberica
(which is not cultivated commercially). Arabica coffee has approximately
half the caffeine of Robusta coffee.
Robusta coffee is used primarily for instant
coffee. Some coffee roasters use it in their blends because it is
less expensive and has a higher vegetable oil content. This higher
oil content allows Robusta blends to produce a thick Crema even after
weeks of degradation in the distribution chain.
Coffee grows around the world between the
latitudes of the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. Arabica
Coffee grows in the cooler high mountains of the tropics. In this
climate, it ripens slowly developing a more intense flavour. Each
country has its unique soil and weather conditions. The Arabica
Coffee plant translates these conditions into coffee flavours unique to
the country geography.
It is likely that you will enjoy many of
our different coffees; try blending two or more in search of your
own Coffee Nirvana.
Chemical Free Water
Decaffeination Process
Decaffeinated coffee is achieved using one
of two methods; the conventional solvent method or the chemical free
water process method.
The conventional method uses solvents such
as methylene chloride to wash the caffeine out of the coffee beans.
The caffeine is then filtered out of the solvent and sold to the pharmaceutical
industry. This method is the least expensive. Moreover, the
costs are defrayed by the revenue from caffeine sales
In the Chemical Free Water Process method
the beans are flooded with water which soaks out the caffeine and some
of the flavour components. The
water is filtered to remove the caffeine. Finally, the resulting
liquid is reapplied to the beans allowing
them to reabsorb the flavour components remaining in the water.
This method is more expensive due to the
complexity and the fact that the caffeine is not salvageable for
resale.
Our Coffee is decaffeinated using only the
Chemical Free Water Process
Decaffeinated Coffee that Tastes Good.....We
start with the best Arabica Coffee Beans from Central America and Africa.
We use only the highest Grown ARABICA Coffee Beans to insure the best
tasting coffee. Caffeine is tasteless; so its removal should
not damage the coffee's taste quality.
We guarantee that our decaffeinated Coffee
Beans will provide you with the best and freshest tasting cup
of coffee.
The best Coffee
Beans deserve the best Packaging:
The Coffee Roaster has searched the world
for the best packaging. Coffee becomes very vulnerable after the roasting
process is complete. The carmelized sugars and volatile oil compounds
can be easily damaged by:
- Oxidation caused by oxygen in the atmosphere
- Fermentation caused by airborne organisms
The coffee must be packaged immediately after roasting in order to prevent
this damage. In this way, the air and it's contaminants can be kept away
from the roasted coffee.
The chemical changes in the coffee bean precipitated by the roasting
process cause a gas to be produced which carries much of the coffee aroma.
The volume of this gas is approximately 3 times the volume of the bean.
Immediate packaging must take this phenomenon into consideration. This
is why our packaging incorporates a one-way valve. This valve allows the
gas to escape without bursting the bag or allowing oxygen to inter the
bag.
Finally, our bags include a zip-lock which allows you to open and reseal
the bag while using the coffee. The flexible package allows you to squeeze
the out air prior to resealing so as to protect the coffee.
All coffee shipped from The Coffee Roaster to the customer is heatsealed
to prevent premature opening. For use, simply remove the heatseal and
unzip the bag.
The best Coffee
Roasting technology working for you:
The Coffee Roasting Process is responsible
for developing the flavour within the coffee bean. It causes the hundreds
of elements that compose the coffee bean to combine resulting in many flavourful
and aromatic compounds; the sugars caramelize, the vegetable oils
are converted into aromatic compounds, etc.
In the early period coffee was roasted over
the open fire in a metal utensil. After hundreds of years, human
inventive skill transformed the hand held metal utensil into a cast
iron drum within which the beans tumbled while the drum rotated over a
heat source.
This increased roasting efficiency; however
the ability to monitor the roasting process within the drum remained visual
and quite difficult.
VISUAL because roast completion can only
be determined by the colour of the bean; this requires intense,
almost surgical, attention from the Roastmaster during roast completion.
DIFFICULT because only the infrared light
spectrum measures the degree of roast accurately and the human eye can't
detect this spectrum; hence, roast consistency between batches
is practically impossible to attain.
SOLUTION.......The Coffee Roaster Pty. Ltd.
uses the Fluidized Bed Coffee Roasting system which
was invented this century and perfected recently
using digital temperature sensing technology. This
allows us to control the coffee roasting process
so that each coffee bean develops optimum flavour
consistently, one batch to the next.
This method consistently produces a clean
evenly roasted coffee bean for a number of reasons:
- Each bean is suspended on a cushion
of heated air which insures a consistent even roast.
- The rapidly moving hot air blows away
and captures any debris and chaff which occurs naturally in such an
agricultural product.
- Each coffee variety or blend is roasted
to the degree necessary to develop it's peak flavour.
- The roasting process is electronically
controlled to insure that the coffee is raised to the precise temperature
required to develop the best flavour.
- The introduction of cool air quickly
reduces the temperature of the coffee to stop further development of
unwanted flavours.
We determine the precise temperature that best
develops these characteristics and accurately roast batch after batch to
the same degree. A super clean collection of individually roasted
coffee beans is the result.
Each coffee variety or blend will brew excellent
drip, plunger and espresso style coffee. The flavour, body and acidity
of the beverage will differ as a reflection of individual coffee growing
geography and weather.
All of our roasts are approximately "medium
dark" as judged by the industry "Roast Color Classification System".
However, coffee beans from differing geographys will develop lighter or
darker colour depending on the amount of caramelized sugars, etc. inherent
in the bean.....ENJOY!
