Anyone with spreadsheet experience (specifically Excel) will find the workbook easy to use. The basic steps are as follows:

First input the definition of all shifts to be scheduled using the following spreadsheet. Note the message fields at the bottom of this sheet; the message keyed in these fields reappears on each individual schedule (sample at bottom).

Next input your employee data including shift preferences, days off, etc.

If desired, the software can randomize the allocation of days off (see right) or the allocation of shifts (Randomize Employee Name order) see below:   Schedules for one or more weeks or a month (5 weeks) can be calculated with the macros accessible below:
Feed back provided includes any unfilled shifts (below) and individual schedules for distribution to each employee (right):

Our conclusion is that this is time saving software with much to recommend it. If it does not adequately address your requirements, it is likely that one of the other packages available from www.shiftschedules.com will be suitable.
